About Us
Northwest Early College High School is a collaboration between the Canutillo Independent School District and the El Paso Community College. The school opened its doors in 2008 to give students in Canutillo ISD the unique chance of earning their high-school diploma at the same time as an associate's degree from El Paso Community College. The innovative early college allows students to get a head start on their college education in a highly rigorous academic environment that is designed to challenge them academically.
NWECHS is located on El Paso Community College's Northwest Campus. Selected students take high-school courses from highly-qualified instructors and then walk to EPCC to attend college-level classes from college professors. Northwest Early College HS offers a small learning environment not to exceed a total enrollment of 400 students. Interested eighth-grade students apply to attend the early college during the spring semester of their eighth-grade year.
